Joint Sealants and Fillers – Which Ones Work Best for Concrete and Pavement?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice and insights on joint sealants and fillers used in concrete structures and pavement works.
We’re currently managing a commercial flooring and outdoor pavement project, and I want to make sure we’re choosing the right materials for sealing expansion and construction joints. There are quite a few options out there—bitumen-based, polyurethane, silicone, epoxy, and others—and each seems to have its own pros and cons.
A few questions I’d appreciate feedback on:
What’s the difference between joint sealants and fillers in terms of function?
Which types of joint sealants perform best in high-traffic or outdoor environments?
Are there preferred brands or specifications you recommend for durability and flexibility?
How do you ensure proper installation for long-term performance?
I know joint sealing is critical for preventing water ingress, debris accumulation, and concrete cracking—but with so many product types on the market, it's getting hard to decide.
Would love to hear your experiences, especially in harsh climates or with heavy-duty applications. Any tips, product recommendations, or case studies would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance.
